Forty years in the same family.
Rancho Santa Fe was not assembled by an investment fund. It was a Guanacaste farm, held by the same Costa Rican family for four decades — and still owned by that family today.
A farm before it was a development. For forty years this was worked land rather than a holding. Four decades on the same ground teaches you which slopes hold water, where the wind comes from in the dry season, and which trees are worth leaving alone.

Construction begins on the gated entrance at the head of Monkey Trail.

Horse arena
The equestrian arena begins — the heart of the ranch and its riding programme.

Casitas Rancho Santa Fe is a separate gated community in the hills above Playa Potrero — 31 titled lots sized for a house and a pool rather than acreage.
